D(caps)id you know that men can also get breast cancer? Surprised but it is a true story. Men, like women, can also develop cancer cells in their breasts. Only, the chances of men being one are much lower than those of women. In the United States, male breast cancer accounts for only 1 percent of breast cancer cases and represents about 0.2% of all malignant diseases in men. This figure is far from tens of thousands of cases for women each year. In 2005, some 1,690 cases of male breast cancer were recorded in the United States, 460 of which resulted in death.

Causes
The cause of male breast cancer is not so difficult to understand. What happens when a woman gets breast cancer is especially the same event that leads to breast cancer in men. What confuses people the most is the word “breast” because it is often associated with femininity and rarely, if possible, masculinity. So for men and women scared of the idea of male breast cancer, the first thing you should do is understand cancer itself, without sex.

Breast Cancer A Disease
Cancer, as many people know, is a disease caused by abnormal cell growth. As these cancer cells increase in number, they form the tissues that the body does not need – the tissues. If growth is out of control, damage to the health system can occur and can lead to death, if not immediately and properly. The process of developing cancer cells can take place in different parts of the body – implanted men’s breasts.
Early in male growth, male hormones (such as testosterone) are produced by the testes that inhibit breast growth and the formation of lobules. Male breast cancer occurs when there is an uncontrolled growth of a small number of inactive breast tissue. These breast tissues do not produce milk and are located directly behind the nipple, on the breast wall.

As for women, the causes of male breast cancer are still unknown. What years of research and research point to are just some of the risk factors for developing breast cancer. The first element that provides radiation exposure. Exposure to ionizing radiation or radiation treatment of previous diseases is identified as a factor contributing to the growth of breast tissue.
Hyperestrogenism is also dangerous. From the name itself, there is an overproduction of the female hormone in the human body. Men, by nature, have estrogen in their bodies. But as the number rises above the body’s needs, the risk of breast cancer also increases. The majority of cases of male breast cancer are due to this risk factor. Men with Klinefelter’s syndrome (abnormal sexual chromosome) and cirrhosis may develop breast cancer as a result of estrogen production. Genetics also plays a large role. Men with female relatives who have had breast cancer are at a higher risk of developing breast cancer.
Forms
Male breast cancer comes in many forms, most commonly found within ductal carcinoma. This is a type of breast cancer when cancer started from the tubular ducts and spread to the surrounding area. The opposite is ductal carcinoma in situ, the second type. Others are Paget’s disease (which affects the skin of the nipple), papillary carcinoma, inflammatory carcinoma, and medulla carcinoma. Symptoms of breast cancer include the presence of a lump (usually under the nipple), nipple lumps (more likely in men than women), nipple withdrawal, and skin lesions. In severe cases, symptoms such as malaise, weight loss, and weakness are more common.
Breast Cancer Male Treatment
Like breast cancer in women, male breast cancer is often treated with a mastectomy. Mastectomy is a procedure that removes membranes over the breast tissue and parts of the axillary lymph nodes. This is followed by treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and hormonal therapy. A combination of treatments that may be defined and administered by medical professionals according to the patient’s cancer stage and general health status.
The National Cancer Institute has made it clear that to reduce the risk of breast cancer and all other cancers at that time, early detection is worthwhile. This should send a message to all men that it is time for them to realize that their breasts may be in danger, too. Knowing their health will not make them inferior to a man but a perfect man (no chest lost).
